This legislative session — with your ongoing engagement and support — I worked with legislators on both sides of the aisle to pass a budget that reflects our community values. While the budget, both in process and content, wasn't what I hoped for, I worked diligently to build relationships with legislators on both sides of the aisle and am proud to have passed a bill as freshman member.
While we made progress in certain areas, we know there's more work to do to ensure economic stability for working Minnesotans. We know Minnesotans should be able to work, provide for their families and get ahead, all at the same time. Yet too many of us are working full time, caring for children or aging family members — somethings both — and still struggling to make ends meet. That's why I support paid family leave, expanding access to affordable childcare, reducing college costs, alleviating crushing student debt and helping folks living on a fixed income.
I look forward to continuing to work with our community to strengthen safe and healthy communities, support students from cradle to college, protect women's health and choice, create opportunity and prosperity, and promote an accountable and accessible democracy. It's an honor to represent our community in the Legislature.
